Help us in our mission to improve the health of our great lake…
we’ve tackled a big problem, and we can’t solve this without everyone’s support.

LAKE WINNIPEG FOUNDATION (LWF) is an environmental non-governmental organization (ENGO) and a registered charity. That means we have to find the money ourselves to support our organization and to fund priority research, education, and water stewardship projects that can identify and provide solutions for the problems causing deterioration of our lake.

Being a grassroots, volunteer organization that can successfully support itself and fund projects that will benefit the long-term sustainability of Lake Winnipeg, is not easy!

LWF Income is derived solely from your generous public and corporate donations, sponsorships, grants, and Lake-a-thon fundraising activities.

Why Participate in the 2013 Lake-a-thon?

YOUR participation in Lake-a-thon fundraising events has a direct impact on the LWF being able to fund projects that will eventually improve the health of Lake Winnipeg. This Spring, LWF received the most funding requests ever, for some really great projects, but we only had enough money to allocate funding for five projects … WHY? Because our fundraising is tied to the summer and right now we’re using funds raised from last year’s events!

So, we need to make sure we have plenty of funds set aside for the Fall and next Spring, and that’s where all of you come in … getting pledges for participating in the Walk for Water, registering for the Golf Fore Water tournament, and dreaming up imaginative Lake-a-thon fundraising challenges and collecting donations for the LWF ~ for the Lake!

All funds raised by these events directly support LWF research, education, and water stewardship projects that promote and/or seek solutions that reduce nutrient pollution to Lake Winnipeg, and protect its existing wetlands. We thank you for your continued support, for the lake!
