Walk For Water Today...

The Lake Winnipeg Foundation will be holding two great fundraisers this summer. The Walk-a-thon is the main fund raising event for the Foundation. In 2010, Walk-a-thon activities raised in excess of $43,000. The 2011 Walk-a-thon will take place on Sunday, August 7th, 2011.
The inaugural Golf-Fore-Water Golf Tournament will be held at Larters at St. Andrews on Tuesday, August 30th, 2011. Enjoy a day of Texas Scramble Fun, Prizes and Camaraderie. Learn more and register for Golf-Fore-Water Golf Tournament. Enter as an individual for $195.00 or a team of 4 for $695. A portion of your entry fee will be elegible for a tax receipt. The fifth Walk-a-thon titled “Walk for Water” will have two components. First the traditional Walk-a-thon will take place on Sunday, August 7th, 2011 at Victoria Beach, Matlock, Gimli, and Grindstone. The walk will be approximately 5 km’s. During the Walk-a-thon weekend, you can participate in the “Lake-a-Thon” category that encourages those who don’t wish to walk, to collect pledges for the Foundation for donating an hour of their time to benefit the health of Lake Winnipeg. These activities could be a shoreline clean up, planting a tree, going for a sail, or safely removing toxic materials from your lake community property. You don’t have to pay to participate in these events, and everyone that collects pledges of $200 or more will receive a “Walk for Water” T shirt. A grand prize will be awarded to the individual that collects the most pledges.
